In general, I assign homework twice per week, usually on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students usually have 2 days to complete homework assignments, so they are usually due on Wednesdays and Fridays. I do not generally assign homework on the weekends unless we are working on a writing assignment or unit project.
There will be no homework assignments in English Intervention. All reading and assignments are done during class time.
Daily reading: students need to read independently for at least 25 minutes, at least five days per week. Students have a reading log form to keep track of their Accelerated Reading goals and progress. This form is to be turned in weekly and is a graded assignment in English.
Absences/Make Up Work: Look in the Absent/Make Up Work folder at the front of the class for any assignments you missed on the day(s) you were absent. Look in the Agenda binder to copy the daily agenda/homework into your planner for the day(s) you were absent.
- Students with excused absences have the number of days absent plus 1 day to turn in the work for full credit.
- Students must make arrangements with Mrs. Feller to make up tests/quizzes before school, at lunch, or after school.
Late Work: Students who do not turn in assignments when they are due will be assigned lunch detention or after school detention to complete the missing assignment. I will give grade points for late work completed during detention, but will deduct points (varying depending on the assignment)for lateness. I will send home a note explaining which assignments were not turned in and when the detention is to be served. Students must return the note to me with a parent signature. Students who do not show for detention will receive a referral and parents will be notified.
Tutoring/Extra Help: I am available from 8:00 to 8:25 daily. Students will be given instructions to attend the before school or lunchtime tutorial if they are falling behind, need extra help, or need to do test corrections.
